Robert Milet of Scottsdale, AZ created CRUISE IQ "The Board Game for Cruise Lovers and Travelers".
|
|
Bob has over twenty years of experience in the travel industry. He is an experienced traveler with an endless curiosity about cruising, people, places, history, world cultures and geography.
In 1984 he founded (and still owns) Vacations On Video. Within a year, he built the industry’s largest travel video distribution center. VOV has shipped millions of travel videos and DVDs to more than thirty countries.
Major cruise lines, tour companies and airlines have used his consulting services and Bob has created and written a number of award winning travel films.
Cruise IQ took two and a half years to complete. In Bob's words, "I basically lived at Starbucks with my laptop. The regulars started referring to me as The Game Guy. I actually took orders a year before the game was finished."

An open letter to cruise fans and travelers from Bob Milet:

“I wanted a game that could be played and enjoyed on several levels by people of all ages. Fun, interesting and helpful informative was always the goal.
Along with the fun of cruising, I wanted players to learn interesting things. I like stuff that once you learn it – you never forget. A good example is the question in one of Australia’s ports about what the word “kangaroo” really means. Once you know, you never forget – not ever.
I started with a traditional one-sided game board. Then I developed a two-sided game board to give player’s eyes an option and a visual color break.
It’s more fun and one side wasn’t big enough anyway.
Cruise IQ doesn’t have set categories like many Q & A games.
I believe that travel should be an adventure. Often the best part of traveling is not knowing exactly what comes next. When you play Cruise IQ you can get a question about anything or any place at any time.
I created Cruise IQ for “big people” who travel or love the idea of travel.
Although I didn’t have children in mind, we get a lot of orders from grandparents, grade school and high school teachers along with a few colleges. I’ve been playing with my two daughters since they were ten.
Questions range from really easy- to moderate- to difficult and 65% are multiple choice so players stay involved. A game is not much fun if you find yourself saying, “I don’t know” after every other question.
I hope that everyone who plays Cruise IQ has as much fun and learns as much as I did during that two and a half years. It’s a wonderful world."
